Club Chairmans comments.
Well, the Club Championships are over for another year and we have some new trophies and therefore new Champions.
Chris Yardley Trophy (First
Male) - Mike Bradley
Judy Buckley Trophy (First Female) - Liz Godfree
Lithuanian Trophy (First Junior) - Jethro McGraw
Karen Jackson Trophy (Fastest Female) - Michelle Mackervoy
Peter Bourne Trophy (Fastest Male) - Paul Addison
Congratulations to all the
winners, including the14 on the White Course who were all awarded medals.
It was particularly nice to have Roz Bourne and Andy Jackson presenting the trophies in memory of Peter and Karen. Just so you know what to aspire to, Paul ran the Long in 5.39 min/km and Michele also ran the Long in 6.59 min/km. Luke Addison had a good run on the Medium in 6.28 min/km.
The day had started wet and misty but, by the time of the prize giving and picnic, we were sitting in bright sunshine. A total of 85 of you ran - 21 Long, 34 Medium, 16 Junior and 14 White. Apologies to those who felt the courses were too long and physical but you were balanced by those felt they were being challenged in a way worthy of the Club Championships.
My thanks to Viv (and Moss and Bramble) for her help in planning, putting out controls, etc., Derek for programming the controls for me and Mike for checking the maps and running the results. Thanks also to the willing band of control collectors - Brian Denness, Andy Jackson, Andy Mackervoy, and Luke Addison and friends. All planners know how welcome it is when people offer to collect the controls after the event as it's often the last thing we want to do!
Fixtures Committee will find a planner for the event next year and hopefully more of the club will realise that this is an event for all and not just those looking to win the Championships.
